LEGO Architecture Farnsworth House 21009
Best Item From LEGO
A Collection for A Collector
This particular model isn't your every day Lego set. Each piece in the series (I have others) is designed in part by an actual architect, and while the set is seemingly "easy" to put together, it still wields a delightfully rewarding result; it is fun and requires the regular Lego step-taking manual in order to finish the product; this trains adults and youngsters alike to chip away at the "puzzle" with patience and prioritization, with a great payoff.
I am an Architecture student, and a few remaining models are DEFINITELY going on my Christmas list; I wouldn't necessarily purchase this for a young child; it adds value to the purpose of the set if the child actually understands what he/she is building. The set does come with a detail on its actual counterpart, but once finished, is not intended to be dismantled; its a Lego set, and like most of them, it will come apart, if mishandled or dropped. It is great fun and time consuming; however, rather than a child, I would...

More fun than a 56 year old man has a right to expect!
I've always been interested in architecture and design. I stumbled across the LEGO Farnsworth House while doing some online browsing.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I haven't had so much simple fun in a very long time. I thought twice, then a third time, about spending this kind of money for a "toy" but it has been well worth it.
I would imagine that any intelligent seven or eight year old with an interest in or eye for design and construction, and with the close and continuing supervision of an adult, would enjoy (perhaps in small doses) assembling the house.
Go for it!
The most beautiful one so far
Having put together Fallingwater, the Guggenheim, and the Brandenburg Gate, I was very excited to put together the Farnsworth House. I have long been a fan of Mies van der Rohe's architecture, reading up on his work, and living by his thoughts that 'less is more'. So when this came out, I was very happen to be given it as a present. All in all, putting it together was more complicated than putting together Fallingwater. But the instructions were clear. And as always, there were nice tidbits of information along the way. I have put this on a windowsill and it looks great there. Seriously, the piece is a beautiful reproduction of the house and is not as small as the Guggenheim or Brandenburg Gate. Pick it up; you won't be disappointed.
