This set arrived on the market mid-2013. MSRP is 69.99. It is often wise to cross check with Lego on price and availability.
Though this is an expensive set, I think it has very good designs and pretty good playability. If you are more interested in playability, I recommend the tree house that came out at the same time (see below). I think 31012 is one of Lego's best sets for 2013.
There are three designs (and directions) included with the set (you build one at a time). The first is a modernist house, the second a more traditional house, and the third a small factory with sawtooth roof. The set has two mini-figures (man and woman), walkie talkie, turkey-leg, and the light brick.

Lego Creator Family House
My 12 year old son loved this house, he was looking for a modern lego house. He built it and was very happy with the design of this house.
Great but pricy for what it is.
Legos are the best kids toy. They stimulate imagination and creativity. The creator house has a nice lighted piece and makes a good house. The price value makes this 4/5 stars because these are just plastic pieces, fun but not the best value in today's world.
